A woman was killed and three other people were injured in a serious road accident on Crete’s main northern highway on Wednesday afternoon, February 5. The crash occurred near the Platanias junction, outside the city of Chania.
According to eyewitness accounts, three vehicles were involved in the collision. The driver of one car became trapped inside the wreckage and was later pulled out unconscious by emergency responders. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The remaining three occupants sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to hospital. One of the injured reportedly required surgery.
Firefighters were deployed to the scene to free those trapped inside the vehicles, while traffic police managed road safety and circulation in the area. Authorities have launched a preliminary investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
Witnesses who arrived shortly after the collision described extensive damage to the vehicles, with one car almost completely destroyed.
