Μake us preferred on Google The Greek public-sector union ADEDY is demanding substantial salary increases for all public employees and the immediate restoration of the 13th and 14th salaries, following the government’s announcements at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
In a statement, ADEDY said public-sector wages have remained stagnant for years, while the abolition of the 13th and 14th salaries and rising living costs have significantly reduced workers’ purchasing power.
The union also criticized the government’s announcement of a €500 gross Christmas bonus for public-sector workers, saying the measure would have little meaningful impact because the first payment is not scheduled until December 2027.
ADEDY calls for immediate measures
ADEDY said the government should abandon what it described as a reliance on allowances and announcements whose implementation is pushed into the distant future.
Instead, it called for measures that address workers’ demands immediately.
Among its demands are:
- Salary increases for all public employees
- Restoration of the 13th and 14th salaries
- Wages that cover the real cost of living
- Restoration of salary losses from previous years
- Permanent hiring and adequate staffing of public services
- Abolition of the Solidarity Contribution
- The “unfreezing” of the 2016–2017 two-year period
