Temporary traffic restrictions are in effect this morning across parts of the broader Athens region due to the road race “For the 200 Executed of Kaisariani,” commemorating the execution of 200 Greeks by the Nazis, during the WWII German occupation.

Specifically, vehicle circulation is being gradually suspended from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the municipalities of Egaleo and Haidari, and until 11:00 a.m. within the City of Athens.

Greek Police (EL.AS.) is urging drivers to avoid passing through the affected areas during the specified hours to prevent additional congestion and ensure smoother traffic flow.

Traffic Restrictions in Central Athens

In Athens, a temporary and gradual suspension of vehicle traffic is in place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., along with a ban on stopping and parking on the following roads:

• Iera Odos: Entire right lane in the direction toward Piraeus.
• Pireos Street: Between Thermopylon and Persefonis, both directions.
• Amalias Avenue: Right lane from Syngrou Avenue to Filellinon Street, heading toward Syntagma Square.
• Vasilissis Olgas Avenue: Full length.
• Vasileos Konstantinou Avenue: Right lane, full length, toward Vasilissis Sofias Avenue.
• Merkouri Street: Between Vasileos Konstantinou and Michalakopoulou.
• Michalakopoulou Street: Right lane from Merkouri to Vasilissis Alexandras Avenue, heading toward the latter.
• Vasilissis Alexandras Avenue: Right lane, full length.
• Grigoriou Theologou Street: Full length.
• Ethnikis Antistaseos Avenue: Right lane between Ymittou and Panioniou streets.
• Panioniou, Pelopos, and Skopeftiriou Streets: Entire lengths of each road.

Traffic Measures in Egaleo and Haidari

From 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., the following roads in the municipalities of Egaleo and Haidari are subject to phased traffic interruptions:

• Agoniston Stratopedou Street: From Athinon Avenue to Iera Odos, in the direction of Iera Odos.
• Iera Odos: Between Agoniston Stratopedou and Stratarchou Karaiskaki, toward Athinon Avenue.
• Iera Odos (right lane): From Stratarchou Karaiskaki to Kifisos Avenue, heading toward central Athens.
• Athinon Avenue: Near the intersections with Floutzi and Agoniston Stratopedou Streets, in both directions.
• Floutzi Street: From Rimini Street to Athinon Avenue.

Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and consider alternative roads during the scheduled race hours.
