The extended heat of recent days is giving way to more seasonally normal temperatures, with meteorologists estimating that the mercury won’t climb back above 35°C until May 2027.

Starting Monday afternoon, cloud cover will gradually thicken over the Ionian Sea and the mainland, from the Peloponnese and Central Greece to Thessaly, Epirus, and Macedonia.

• Local rain: Expected mainly in the eastern and northeastern Peloponnese, Attica, Evia, the Sporades, and Halkidiki.
• Temperature: Will drop, ranging from 27-30°C in the north, up to 31-32°C in the western mainland, and as high as 34°C on the Aegean islands.

Weather in Athens and Thessaloniki

• Attica: Scattered clouds from the morning, gradually thickening, with a chance of light local rain. Temperatures will reach up to 30°C, while northeastern winds in the Saronic Gulf and southern Evoikos will reach 4-5 on the Beaufort scale.
• Thessaloniki: Occasional periods of thicker cloud cover, with temperatures ranging from 18°C to 28°C.

What to Expect Tuesday and Wednesday

On Tuesday, a low-pressure system is expected to form in the southwest, bringing rain and storms that will affect the southern and central parts of the country. In the Aegean, north winds will strengthen, reaching 5-6 on the Beaufort scale.

By Wednesday, conditions will gradually ease in the southwest, while the rest of the country will see improved weather, though the autumn feel and cooler temperatures around 30°C will persist.
