In 2020, the first student newspaper of TO BHMA was published: TO BHMA of Zosimaia. Six years later, and after nearly 70 student newspapers have been released—from Heraklion to Soufli and from Kefalonia to Kos—TO BHMA and the institution of student newspapers are expanding beyond national borders, retracing the journey that many Greeks once undertook decades ago in search of a better life.

To Vima of Munich, which you are currently browsing in its digital form, is the first student newspaper published במסגרת the initiative TO BHMA tis Omogeneias. It was created by the students of the Greek Lyceum of Munich “Konstantinos Carathéodory.” More will follow in the near future from every continent where Hellenism lives and thrives: from North and South America, Africa, Oceania, and, of course, Europe.

TO BHMA and Alter Ego Media have moved forward with the internationalization of the Student Newspaper initiative, recognizing the need of teachers and students in Greek-language schools abroad to actively participate in this publishing endeavor.

The support of the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and Public Diplomacy has been—and will continue to be—valuable and essential; without it, building a bridge with schools abroad would have been impossible.

TO BHMA tis Omogeneias gives a voice to the younger generation of Greeks abroad—to children born in another homeland, yet who carry Greece alive in their hearts. It contributes a small but meaningful piece toward preserving, through the Greek language and journalism, the spirit of Hellenism in every corner of the globe. It creates a symbolic space where, through the unique perspective of students, the memories and narratives of people who have lived and continue to live abroad—who have distinguished themselves in their careers, worked hard, and progressed—will remain alive.

We are especially pleased and deeply moved by the texts we have received and the newspapers that are yet to be published, because within the words of these young people lies the sincere love and generosity of the Greek diaspora wherever it exists.
