U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the memorandum of understanding signed with Iran to end the conflict is “over,” declaring he no longer wants to engage with Tehran.
Speaking to reporters at the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said he considered the ceasefire between the United States and Iran finished.
“I think it’s over,” he said. “As far as I’m concerned, it’s over.”
The president also dismissed the prospect of further negotiations, saying that while representatives from both sides “can talk,” they are “wasting their time.”
“I don’t want to deal with them anymore, they’re scum,” Trump said. “It’s just a waste of time dealing with them, they’re liars.”
Trump’s remarks mark a sharp shift in tone after the memorandum of understanding had been presented as a framework to end the conflict between the two countries.
