Μake us preferred on Google The MTV Video Music Awards returned to Los Angeles for another year, drawing some of the biggest names in global music. The night had clear standouts, with Madonna, Taylor Swift and BTS among the artists who took home the top honors.

The 2026 MTV VMAs were held on Sunday, September 27, at the Peacock Theater, with Snoop Dogg serving as host. Madonna, who entered the evening as the most-nominated artist, left with several awards, including Artist of the Year and Best Album for “Confessions II.”
One of the night’s biggest prizes went to Taylor Swift, who won Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia.” BTS, meanwhile, claimed Song of the Year with “Swim.”
Madonna led the field with 13 nominations, followed by Swift with 11. Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, Bruno Mars, PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson also made a strong showing among the nominees.
The ceremony also featured special honors. Swift received the first-ever Artist Director Honors in the show’s history, while Nirvana were recognized with the Video Vanguard Award.
Performers included Madonna, LISA, RAYE, Shaboozey, Gunna, Sienna Spiro, GENER8ION and Yung Lean. The lineup also featured a tribute to George Michael by RAYE, SOMBR and Teddy Swims, as well as a tribute to Dolly Parton by Kacey Musgraves.
