Job vacancies in Greece declined in the second quarter of 2025, according to the country’s statistical authority, ELSTAT.

The number of job vacancies decreased by 34.1% in Q2 2025 compared to the same quarter in 2024, falling to 38,834 from 58,941. This contrasts with a 58.8% increase recorded in Q2 2024 compared with Q2 2023.

In the eurozone, job vacancy rates posted a slight decrease in Q1 2025, standing at 2.4% compared with 2.5% in Q4 2024 and 2.9% in Q1 2024, according to Eurostat, the EU’s statistical agency.

Across the EU, the vacancy rate was 2.2% in Q1 2025, down from 2.3% in the previous quarter and 2.6% a year earlier.

In the eurozone, job vacancy rates in Q1 2025 were 2.1% in industry, and construction, and 2.7% in services.

In the EU as a whole, the rates were 1.9% in industry and construction, and 2.5% in services.

Among member states with comparable data, the highest vacancy rates in Q1 2025 were recorded in the Netherlands (4.2%) and Belgium (4.1%), followed by Austria (3.6%). The lowest were in Romania (0.6%) and Poland (0.8%), with Bulgaria and Spain both at 0.9%.

Greece was close to the EU average, posting a vacancy rate of 2.2%.
