Athens Mayor Haris Doukas presented the map on Wednesday, highlighting accessibility and inclusive mobility during the annual European Mobility Week.
As part of this year’s program, the City of Athens has also organized four free accessible activities under the theme “Tours of Athens for Everyone.”

A map designed for people with visual impairments
The tactile map is a joint project involving the City of Athens, the Cartography Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens, representatives of organizations for people with visual impairments and STASY, the company responsible for operating Athens’ metro system.
The initiative is intended to make information about the metro and the surrounding area more accessible to people with visual impairments through a tactile format.

Free accessible tours in Athens
The tactile map was presented alongside the city’s program of four free accessible activities organized for European Mobility Week.
The activities are part of the “Tours of Athens for Everyone” initiative and are designed to provide accessible opportunities for residents and visitors to explore the city.
