The countdown for applications to the Fuel Pass program is underway, as the online platform remains open for eligible applicants until Thursday, 30 April 2026.

The scheme, designed to support transport costs during the April–May 2026 period, is available to individuals and self-employed residents who are tax residents of Greece. Applications are accepted regardless of the final digit of the applicant’s tax identification number.

Income limits and eligibility criteria

Eligibility is determined by income thresholds set at €25,000 for single applicants and €35,000 for married couples or those in a civil partnership. These limits are increased by €5,000 for each dependent child. For single-parent households, the threshold is €39,000, with an additional €5,000 for each child beyond the first.

Applicants must also meet specific vehicle-related requirements. Each person may apply for only one vehicle, and each vehicle can be registered to only one beneficiary. The vehicle must be in circulation, insured, and free of outstanding road tax debts.

Payment amounts vary by vehicle and region

The level of financial support depends on both the type of vehicle and the applicant’s location.

For cars in mainland Greece, the subsidy amounts to €50 when issued via a digital card or €40 when credited directly to a bank account. In island regions, the support increases to €60 and €50 respectively.

For motorcycles and mopeds, the benefit is set at €30 via digital card or €25 via bank transfer in mainland areas, rising to €35 and €30 in island regions.

Broader use of digital card introduced

This year’s Fuel Pass includes a key change: the digital card is no longer limited to fuel purchases. It can also be used for public transport and taxi services, though cash withdrawals are not permitted. Any remaining balance must be used by 31 July 2026.

Application process and deadlines

Applicants must ensure their submission is completed correctly, as applications marked as “in processing” are not considered final. Approved applications cannot be modified.

Support is also available through Citizen Service Centers for those unable to complete the process online, with assistance offered until the same deadline.
