The Greek Deputy Minister of Finance, Harry Theocharis, stated the government was considering extending the December 31st deadline for motorists to pay their vehicle circulation fees, speaking to Greek radio.
“Our goal is to avoid continuous extensions and move towards a system that is stable in every respect,” Theocharis announced a brief extension of the deadline for paying vehicle circulation fees.
The Deputy Minister stressed, “I will refer you to a provision that may be submitted, possibly today, and will be voted on Wednesday. Our goal is to avoid continuous extensions and move towards a system that is stable so that extensions are not needed. Nevertheless, possibly—because we are introducing all these regulations a few days before the deadline—we may have a brief extension in the process for a few days.”
It is worth noting that the deadline for paying vehicle circulation fees expires on December 31, 2023. Vehicle owners can pay the fees through the AADE myCar platform using three methods. Initially, they print the notification and then can:
- Visit an automatic transaction machine and scan the QR code on their notification, following the on-screen instructions.
- Access their bank’s application (e-banking) and pay using the 23-digit RF code indicated on the notification.
- Visit a bank branch or ELTA (Hellenic Post) store and pay at the counter by presenting the notification.
