Novak Djokovic not only impressed with his straight-sets victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas at Wimbledon on Wednesday, July 1, but also drew attention for a light-hearted moment that unfolded during the match.

During a break in play, the Serbian star was applying athletic tape to his shoulder and asked a ball girl to help by cutting the tape for him.

As she did so, Djokovic jokingly pretended that she had accidentally hurt him, leaving the young ball girl visibly startled for a few seconds.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion immediately revealed it was only a prank, reassuring her with a smile before the pair burst into laughter, earning warm applause from the Centre Court crowd.

Speaking after the match, Djokovic reflected on the incident with his trademark humor.
“I guess these things come out when you’re leading by two sets to love, not when you’re trailing by two sets,” he said. “Stefanos had gone to change, so I had a little free time… Sorry! I don’t know if she’s still here. I’m sorry if I scared her.

“It probably wasn’t my best joke after all. But it did help me relax a little.”

Djokovic went on to defeat Tsitsipas in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, ending the Greek player’s Wimbledon campaign in the second round.
