Professional drivers in Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Montenegro are demanding an exemption from a Commission regulation stipulating a maximum stay of 90 days per six-month period in the Schengen area

The rules also apply to citizens of the United Kingdom, which has left the EU, as well as travelers from Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.

According to Reuters, the removal of land border controls comes nearly a year after air and sea travel restrictions were lifted in March 2024.
