Heavy rainfall affected several parts of Greece on Sunday, October 25, and Monday, October 26, with thunderstorms bringing particularly intense precipitation to eastern mainland Greece and the Attica region, according to the National Observatory of Athens.
Data from the observatory’s network of automatic weather stations showed that the highest rainfall total recorded nationwide by 5:50 p.m. Monday was at Amoni, near Sofiko, where precipitation reached 133 millimeters.
Several locations in Attica also recorded substantial rainfall. Hasani Hill, in the Elliniko area of southern Athens, received 104 millimeters, while the total in Koropi reached 96 millimeters.
The measurements were compiled by the National Observatory of Athens’ Meteo.gr service and show the distribution of rainfall across Greece over the two-day period.
The observatory also identified the eight weather stations that recorded the highest rainfall totals nationwide. Separate measurements for Attica, collected through 6 p.m. Monday, highlighted the areas in the region that received the greatest amounts of rain.
