A mission of foreign diplomats, including a delegation from the European Union (EU), has reportedly come under fire in the West Bank by Israeli soldiers.

The delegation was visiting a Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin on Wednesday to assess the humanitarian conditions on the ground when the incident occurred. A member of the mission described coming under heavy and repeated fire.

According to the Palestinian Information Center, Israeli forces surrounded the diplomatic convoy near a gate at the eastern entrance of the refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli soldiers fired five times during the incident.

The delegation was accompanied by officials from several European and Arab countries. No casualties or injuries have been reported.

According to the IDF, Israeli soldiers fired warning shots to force the diplomatic mission to change the route, as it had deviated from a previously agreed road and entered an unauthorized area.
