U.S. President Donald Trump suggested he may be unfairly overlooked for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize, saying that despite his achievements in ending wars, “they’ll find a reason not to give it to me.” The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced today, Friday, October 10, at noon.

In a recent post, Trump said, “We settled seven wars, and we’re close to finishing an eighth. I think we’ll eventually resolve the situation in Ukraine too — it’s terrible there. I don’t think anyone in history has ended so many wars, but maybe they’ll find a reason not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize.”
Soon after a ceasefire agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, the White House posted an image of Trump on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, captioned: “The President of Peace.”

Meanwhile, Trump’s daughter Ivanka launched an online poll asking followers whether her father deserves the Peace Prize. However, recent surveys show that 76% of respondents disagree that he should receive it.
National Guard Deployment Raises Questions
At the same time, Trump’s decision to deploy National Guard forces to several Democrat-led states has drawn criticism, seen by some as undermining his message of peace and as a political move ahead of the Nobel announcement.

Nobel historian Asle Sveen told reporters he is “100% sure Trump will not receive the award,” citing the former president’s strong military support for Israel and his hands-off stance toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bombardment of Gaza.
This year, 338 individuals and organizations have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Last year’s award went to Nihon Hidankyo, a Japanese group representing survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Mixed Reactions From World Leaders
Supporters of Trump’s nomination include families of Israeli hostages, who praised his mediation efforts. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Trump “deserves” the honor, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he would consider nominating Trump next year — if he manages to bring an end to the war in Ukraine.
