A wildfire broke out around noon on Monday in a forested area of Ritsona, Chalkida, burning through low vegetation.
According to an initial announcement by the Seasonal Firefighters on Facebook A total of 40 firefighters began battling the blaze, supported by three ground teams, 10 vehicles, two firefighting aircraft, and two helicopters.
Shortly after 3:00 p.m., the fire department received additional reinforcements. There are now 100 firefighters on the scene, supported by seven ground teams, 27 vehicles, five aircraft, and four helicopters—one of which is designated for coordination. Volunteers, local government water tankers, and construction machinery are also assisting in the effort.
The fire spread rapidly due to strong winds in the area and soon reached a forested zone filled with combustible material, significantly complicating firefighting efforts.
