As the Release Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, music lovers in Athens are given the opportunity to watch headliners whose influence has shaped multiple generations. Thievery Corporation, the pioneering Washington, D.C., duo of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton, have remained a leading force in electronica for three decades. Blending influences from dub, reggae, jazz, bossa nova, hip-hop, and Middle Eastern music, they helped define the downtempo and trip-hop scene through acclaimed albums including Sounds From the Thievery Hi-Fi, The Mirror Conspiracy, The Richest Man in Babylon, and The Cosmic Game, while maintaining complete artistic independence throughout their career.
