The Kypseli Municipal Market, now firmly established as one of the city’s most beloved public spaces, has become the beating heart of a neighborhood long known for its social life, cultural exchanges, and bustling commerce.

Housed in an interwar public building on Fokionos Negri Street — a rare architectural gem of the 1923–1940 period — the market was revitalized in spring 2023 by the City of Athens and has since flourished as a cultural, educational, and social hub. Its mission goes beyond being a marketplace: it aims to be a point of encounter and innovation, where inclusivity, interaction, sustainability, and creativity shape a shared community life.

This September, the Market launches a diverse and dynamic new program that welcomes all Athenians and visitors alike. From street food festivals and pop-up shops to art exhibitions, workshops, theater, and international celebrations, it promises a season that’s as rich as the neighborhood itself.

A program for everyone. A Market for everyone.
