Unknown assailants placed improvised incendiary devices at the entrances of apartment buildings where several politicians affiliated with Greece’s ruling New Democracy (ND) party live in Thessaloniki. The attacks occurred between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1.

According to initial reports, the targeted residences are home to Zisis Ioakeimovits, president of New Democracy’s Thessaloniki Administrative Committee, former Thessaloniki MP Savvas Anastasiadis, and parliamentary candidate Afroditi Nestora.

The explosions triggered fires, leaving Ms. Nestora injured. Four other people were taken to hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation.
