A group of French tourists was safely rescued on Friday after their vehicles became stranded in a difficult-to-access and rugged area of central Evia (Euboea) island, prompting a rescue response by six local volunteers.
The alert was raised at about 2:30 p.m., when the tourists’ vehicles became stranded on a rough stretch of the route, which according to reports was between the settlements of Seta and Metochi. Three fully equipped four-wheel-drive vehicles were dispatched to the scene.
The volunteers reached the stranded vehicles and used specialized equipment to free them, escorting the tourists and their vehicles to a safe area. No injuries or further problems were reported.
