Greece is set to experience a brief spell of intense summer heat on Friday, with temperatures climbing to as high as 38°C in parts of the mainland, while strong winds continue to affect the Aegean Sea.

According to the latest forecast, the weather will remain mostly sunny across the country, although temporary cloud cover is expected over inland areas during the afternoon. Isolated showers are forecast mainly over mountainous regions, with a slight chance of thunderstorms in northern highlands.

Hot Conditions Across Most of Greece

Temperatures are expected to range between 33°C and 35°C in most regions, with inland areas locally reaching 37°C or 38°C.

Northern Greece will see highs of up to 36°C, while western parts of the country could experience the hottest conditions, with temperatures peaking at 38°C.

The Athens area is forecast to reach 36°C under clear skies, while Thessaloniki is expected to see temperatures of up to 35°C, with a possibility of brief afternoon showers in nearby mountainous areas.

On the islands, temperatures will remain slightly lower, reaching around 34°C in Crete and the Cyclades and up to 35°C in the eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese.

Strong Aegean Winds Continue

Northerly winds of 3 to 5 Beaufort will prevail across much of the country, strengthening to 6 or locally 7 Beaufort over the Aegean Sea.

The stronger winds are expected to persist throughout the day, particularly across the Cyclades, Crete and the eastern Aegean islands.

Outlook for Saturday

Similar weather conditions are expected to continue on Saturday, with mostly clear skies and brief afternoon cloud development over inland areas.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms remain possible over mountainous regions, while temperatures are forecast to rise slightly, reaching up to 38°C across parts of mainland Greece.
