A powerful explosion disturbed residents in the early hours of Thursday, February 19, when unidentified individuals threw a defensive-type grenade at the intersection of Peloponnisou and Delfon streets in Korydallos, a densely populated suburb of Piraeus.

The blast damaged six parked vehicles and caused destruction to a first-floor apartment in a nearby residential building. Despite the force of the explosion, no injuries were reported.

Specialists from the Greek Police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (TEEM) rushed to the scene and recovered fragments of the grenade. Authorities cordoned off the area as a precaution while investigators began collecting evidence.

The perpetrators fled immediately after the attack and remain at large. Police are reviewing footage from security cameras in the vicinity as part of an ongoing investigation.
