A powerful storm with torrential rain, large hail and dozens of lightning strikes hit Volos and Pelion at midday on Sunday, October 11, causing problems on parts of the road network and concern among residents.
The intensity of the rain caused large amounts of water to collect on city streets, making it difficult for vehicles to get through.
At the same time, the heavy downpour caused a noticeable rise in the water level of the Krafsidonas stream, which swelled due to the large volume of rain that fell in a short period of time.
Dozens Of Lightning Strikes In Volos And Pelion
The electrical activity accompanying the bad weather was also particularly intense, as dozens of lightning strikes hit the wider area of Volos and Pelion within a short period of time.
The storm was accompanied by large hail, with the intensity of the weather once again highlighting the difficulties that heavy rainfall can cause in the city’s urban areas.
The scenes on the streets and the rising level of the Krafsidonas reflect the intensity of the bad weather that hit Magnesia, with the weather phenomena striking with particular force within a short period of time.
A Striking Double Rainbow Appeared After The Storm
Right after the powerful storm and hailfall, a striking double rainbow appeared in the sky over Volos.
The phenomenon was visible across a large part of the city and drew the attention of residents, many of whom rushed to capture it on their mobile phones.
The sight was particularly impressive, as the two arcs formed over Volos shortly after the most intense weather had passed, creating a sharp contrast with the heavy clouds that remained on the horizon.
