A 50-year-old man in Koropi, a suburb of Athens, has been ordered to remain in pre-trial detention following his appearance before an investigator, after the brutal assault of his 40-year-old partner last week. The man faces charges of attempted homicide against the woman and bodily harm to a minor, as he is also alleged to have assaulted their child during the same incident.

According to initial reports, the woman was admitted to intensive care, due to life-threatening injuries she endured following the brutal beating. The assault is alleged to have also involved one of their children, prompting intervention by social services and law enforcement. As noted in a related report, the child told authorities, as a witness, “Dad hit Mommy,” revealing the gravity of the scene.

During his testimony, the accused denied all charges for the serious injuries incurred by his partner, claiming he had returned home from abroad to find her in a battered state rather than being the perpetrator.

Meanwhile, the children were removed from the home, the man was taken into custody, and a full investigation was launched into the events. According to a caretaker at the children’s kindergarten, the scene included “a lot of blood” and terrified children who described “everything red.”
