Greece will experience generally stable weather on Thursday, January 15, with a small additional increase in temperatures and limited cloud cover. Conditions will be favorable for most activities, although light rain is possible in western areas, and frost and fog may create localized travel challenges.
Local cloudiness is expected in western and southern parts of the country, as well as in the eastern Aegean. Light rain may occur over the Ionian Islands and locally in Epirus. Frost will develop overnight and early in the morning across central and northern mainland regions. During the morning and especially the evening hours, reduced visibility and fog are likely in many areas.
Temperatures (in Celsius) will range as follows:
- Western Macedonia and the Nevrokopi Plateau: -7°C to 9–11°C
- Rest of Macedonia and Thrace: -3°C to 12–14°C
- Epirus: 0°C to 9–11°C
- Central mainland Greece: -2°C to 14–16°C
- Remaining mainland regions: 3°C to 15–17°C
- Ionian Islands: 7°C to 13–14°C
- Northern and Northeastern Aegean Islands: 3°C to 15°C
- Remaining Aegean islands and Crete: 6°C to 16–18°C
- Dodecanese: 9°C to 16°C
Winds will vary by region. In the northern and central Aegean, southwesterly winds will blow at 3 to 4 Beaufort. In the southern Aegean and the Gulf of Corinth, winds will be westerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort. In the Ionian Sea, winds will start westerly at 2 to 4 Beaufort, gradually shifting to southerly or southeasterly directions from the north, with similar intensities.
Athens (Attica): Sunny conditions are expected. Visibility may be reduced during the morning and especially in the evening. Westerly winds will blow at 2 to 3 Beaufort, increasing to 3 to 5 Beaufort in western parts of Attica. Temperatures will range from 6°C to 16°C.
Thessaloniki: Sunshine will prevail. Reduced visibility is expected overnight and early in the morning, with fog possibly forming again in the evening. Northwest winds will blow at 2 to 3 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 2°C to 13°C, with colder minimums in areas surrounding the city.
