Unstable weather conditions are expected across Greece today and through the beginning of next week. The main features of the forecast will be localized rain showers and scattered thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening hours, affecting many parts of the country, including the Attica region.

According to the Hellenic National Meteorological Service (EMY), northeastern mainland Greece and the northern Aegean will see cloud cover with local rain or showers and scattered thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon and evening.

In the rest of the country, skies will initially remain mostly clear, but cloud cover will gradually increase from late morning onward — first over mainland regions and Crete, and later over the Cyclades and the Dodecanese islands — bringing localized rain and isolated thunderstorms.

Winds will blow from northern directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, temporarily reaching 6 Beaufort in the northern Ionian Sea.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly, reaching 23 to 25 degrees Celsius, and locally up to 26 degrees in eastern mainland areas.

From Friday afternoon through the evening, rain and thunderstorms are expected to spread across mainland Greece and the islands.

On Saturday, instability will intensify in eastern and southern regions, with locally heavy rain and thunderstorms, while conditions are expected to gradually improve from the evening onward.

Localized rain and thunderstorms will continue on Sunday and Monday, before conditions improve on Tuesday, with weather phenomena mostly limited to mountainous mainland areas.

Winds will mainly blow from northern directions at 3 to 7 Beaufort, while temperatures will range between 10 and 26 degrees Celsius without significant fluctuations.

Macedonia and Thrace

Weather: In western Macedonia and the western parts of central Macedonia, skies will initially be partly cloudy, gradually becoming overcast, with local rain showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly during the afternoon and evening. In the remaining areas, intermittent cloud cover with localized rain and scattered thunderstorms is expected, particularly later in the day.

Winds: Northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: Between 14 and 24 degrees Celsius. In western Macedonia, temperatures will range from 10 to 23 degrees.

Ionian Islands, Epirus, Western Central Greece, Western Peloponnese

Weather: Initially mostly clear. From late morning onward, cloud development is expected mainly over mainland regions, bringing localized showers or isolated thunderstorms, while scattered thunderstorms are forecast for the western Peloponnese during the afternoon and evening.

Winds: Northerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, reaching 5 and locally 6 in the Ionian Sea.

Temperature: Between 13 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Thessaly, Eastern Central Greece, Evia, Eastern Peloponnese

Weather: A few clouds that will gradually thicken, bringing local rain showers and scattered thunderstorms mainly during the afternoon and evening.

Winds: Northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: Between 11 and 26 degrees Celsius.

Cyclades and Crete

Weather: Initially generally clear. From midday onward, local cloud cover will develop, with rain showers and isolated thunderstorms first affecting Crete and later overnight spreading to the Cyclades.

Winds: West-northwesterly at 3 to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: Between 15 and 24 degrees Celsius.

Eastern Aegean Islands and Dodecanese

Weather: Partly cloudy conditions, with cloud cover increasing first over the eastern Aegean islands and later elsewhere from midday onward, bringing localized rain and isolated thunderstorms.

Winds: Northerly at 3 to 5 Beaufort.

Temperature: Between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius.

Attica

Weather: Initially clear, but clouds will develop from late morning onward, bringing local rain showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon.

Thessaloniki

Weather: Partly cloudy skies that will gradually thicken from late morning onward, bringing local rain showers and isolated thunderstorms.

In eastern regions, increased cloud cover with rain showers and scattered thunderstorms is expected.

In western Greece, conditions will initially remain mostly clear, but clouds will quickly increase, bringing localized rain showers and brief thunderstorms over mainland areas from midday onward.

Winds in western regions will be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort. In eastern areas, winds will blow from northern directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort, strengthening to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea from the afternoon.

Temperatures will slightly drop in eastern and southern regions, reaching 22 to 23 degrees Celsius in eastern and southern island areas and 24 to 26 degrees elsewhere.

Eastern Greece will experience unstable weather, with periods of increased cloud cover, local rain showers and isolated thunderstorms over mainland regions.

In western Greece, weather will initially remain generally clear with a few clouds that will quickly increase. Local rain showers or isolated thunderstorms are expected mainly over mainland regions during the afternoon and evening.

Winds in western areas will be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while eastern regions will see northerly winds at 3 to 4 Beaufort, reaching 5 to 6 and locally 7 Beaufort in the Aegean from the afternoon onward.

Temperatures are not expected to change significantly.

Eastern mainland Greece and Crete will see periods of increased cloud cover with localized rain showers. Conditions are expected to improve from the afternoon.

Elsewhere, generally fair weather is forecast, with temporary cloud development over mainland areas during the afternoon and evening, bringing local rain showers mainly in mountainous regions.

Winds will blow from northern directions at 3 to 5 Beaufort and 4 to 6 Beaufort in the Aegean, locally reaching 7 Beaufort.

Temperatures will rise slightly.

Generally fair weather is expected nationwide, with temporary cloud development over mountainous mainland regions where local rain showers may occur.

Winds will blow from northern directions at 3 to 6 Beaufort, locally reaching 7 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea.

Temperatures will rise slightly in western Greece.
