Μake us preferred on Google A dramatic car chase in Thessaloniki ended with the arrest of a 37-year-old man after police discovered that the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen.
The incident unfolded on Agiou Dimitriou Street, outside AHEPA Hospital, causing concern among drivers and pedestrians in the area.
The pursuit involved a black car and a white car. During the incident, the black vehicle attempted to ram the white car, which ended up traveling along the sidewalk. No pedestrians were on the sidewalk at the time.
The incident took place in front of several members of the public, with passersby stopping to see what was happening.
Motorcyclists smash car window
At another point during the incident, a motorcycle carrying two helmeted men stopped at the scene. The two men approached the white car and, according to video footage of the incident, smashed one of the vehicle’s windows and shouted at the driver.
People who had gathered nearby approached the men to ask what was happening.
A short time later, the two motorcycle riders left the area along with the black car, amid the possibility that police would be called.
Police officers subsequently arrived at the scene, along with an ambulance from Greece’s National Emergency Aid Center, after the 37-year-old driver of the white car was injured by broken glass.
Stolen vehicle discovered
During the subsequent police check, officers determined that the white car driven by the 37-year-old had been stolen. He was subsequently arrested.
It remains unclear what initially triggered the pursuit or the confrontation between those involved.
The 37-year-old has not yet provided an explanation of what happened between the two sides or whether a dispute or another incident led to the confrontation.
