A tragic incident occurred on the morning of Friday, August 8, 2025, at Sarakiniko, one of the most famous beaches on the Greek island of Milos. A tourist couple from Vietnam, both around 50 years old, lost their lives in the waters off the coast.

The couple had recently disembarked from a cruise ship at the port of Adamas and were visiting the area when the accident happened. According to initial reports, the woman may have been attempting to take a selfie near the water when strong winds swept her off balance, causing her to fall into the sea. The man then jumped in to try to rescue her, but both were tragically overcome by the rough conditions.

Rescue efforts involved a small vessel with a lifeguard on board and were coordinated by the Milos Port Authority. Due to adverse weather conditions and stormy seas caused by strong winds, the authorities faced significant difficulties during the recovery operation. While the woman’s body has already been retrieved, the search for the man’s body continues amid challenging sea conditions. Private boats have also joined the rescue efforts.

The local maritime authorities are conducting a full investigation into the circumstances of the incident. This tragic event highlights the dangers of the unpredictable weather and sea conditions that can affect even well-known tourist spots like Sarakiniko.
