Police in Athens have swiftly solved a shocking daylight murder in the Agios Panteleimonas neighborhood. A 47-year-old man was shot in the head in broad daylight in front of bystanders, prompting an intensive investigation.
Authorities identified the suspect as a 27-year-old man, who allegedly killed the victim due to personal disputes. Using surveillance footage, police were able to trace the suspect’s movements after the shooting and map his escape route.
The killer had approached the victim on a stolen motorcycle, which authorities recovered three days later in Alimos, originally taken from the Kallithea area.
During the investigation, police also arrested another 27-year-old associate involved in large-scale drug trafficking. Raids on three Athens residences uncovered a significant cache of illegal items, including:
- 1,430.8 grams of cocaine
- 642 grams of raw cannabis
- 34 grams of processed cannabis (“chocolate”)
- 137 grams of unidentified chemicals
- 2 precision scales
- Metal grinder with cannabis residue
- Metal axe
- Firearm with 11 bullets
- €2,700 in cash
- Rider clothing and equipment matching the suspect
Both arrested individuals have extensive criminal records involving drugs, weapons offenses, assault, domestic violence, and defiance of authorities. They have been handed over to the competent prosecutor’s office for further action.
