Greece is experiencing a typical autumn weather pattern, with clouds gradually thickening across much of the country and scattered showers expected in western areas over the coming days.

On Thursday, skies were partly cloudy, with temperatures ranging from 18–20°C in northern Greece, 20–24°C across central and southern mainland areas, and 22–25°C in other regions. Athens will see cloudy skies, with highs reaching 23°C, while Thessaloniki remains cooler, with temperatures peaking around 20°C.

Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in the West

Friday’s forecast predicts mostly clear skies with some clouds in Macedonia and Thrace. The rest of the country will see increasing cloud cover and local rain showers by the afternoon, particularly in western regions and the Ionian Islands, where isolated thunderstorms may occur during the evening. Visibility will be locally reduced in the mornings. Winds will be light to moderate, 3–5 Beaufort, from the southeast in the west and variable in the east. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged.

Weekend Outlook

  • Saturday, November 1: Central and southern Ionian regions, western Central Greece, and the Peloponnese will experience increased clouds with local rain, and isolated thunderstorms in the southwest. Northern regions including Macedonia, Thrace, and Thessaly will see temporarily increased cloudiness but generally clear skies by midday.
  • Sunday, November 2: Mostly sunny across the country, with a few clouds in southern areas. Short-lived showers may occur in western Peloponnese and western Crete. Visibility may be locally reduced in the morning. Winds remain mild, from easterly directions in the west and northerly in the east. Temperatures are expected to stay steady.

Early Thursday mornings saw below-freezing temperatures in parts of Macedonia and Epirus, with the lowest reading recorded in Nevrokopi at -1.8°C. Other northern stations also reported near-zero temperatures, marking a chilly start to the day.

As Greece heads into the weekend, residents are advised to prepare for cooler, cloudy conditions in the west and enjoy milder, mostly dry weather elsewhere.
