A family dispute in Messara, Crete, over sheep grazing has escalated into a dangerous confrontation involving firearms, leading to four arrests, local authorities reported.

According to Cretalive, the conflict began when one family allegedly asked the other not to allow their sheep to graze in olive groves on their property. The situation spiraled quickly, with both sides exchanging threats and, reportedly, displaying guns.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Police confirmed that the father of one family, 51, and his two underage sons were detained. On the other side, the 50-year-old father was also arrested, while one of his children, a 24-year-old with a prior conviction for attempted manslaughter, remains at large.

Authorities are examining whether a personal dispute may have fueled the escalation beyond the grazing disagreement. Both families have filed complaints against each other.
