An off-duty police officer from the OPKE special operations unit rescued two underage girls from a burning house in Giannitsa, in Central Macedonia, preventing what could have been a tragic outcome.

The incident occurred on Monday, May 1, when the officer, who was on medical leave at the time, noticed smoke coming from a neighboring residence and immediately alerted the Fire Service.

After realizing that the two girls were trapped inside the house and that their parents were not present, the officer acted without hesitation. Carrying a fire extinguisher, he entered the burning building and successfully evacuated the children, bringing them to safety before the situation could escalate.
