On May 9, the Labor and Social Insurance Ministry will hold the latest edition of its Rebrain Greece outreach program at the London Hilton Metropole, targeting Greek professionals living and working in the United Kingdom.

Labor Minister Niki Kerameus will travel to London a day earlier, on Friday, May 8, to deliver a lecture at the London School of Economics and Political Science titled “Skills development and quality jobs in Europe: insights from Greece,” followed by a roundtable discussion with Greek students at the institution.

The London event marks the third time Rebrain Greece has come to the British capital. Previous editions have been held in Amsterdam, Düsseldorf, Stuttgart and New York. Across all events to date, more than 6,500 people have attended, meeting representatives from 120 of Greece’s largest employers to explore career opportunities back home.

This edition has drawn 35 corporate groups, covering sectors including construction, technology, artificial intelligence, R&D, IT, finance and banking, energy, insurance, law, shipping, consulting, telecoms, media, tourism, pharmaceuticals and healthcare.

The initiative targets a generation that left in large numbers during Greece’s prolonged economic crisis, which began in 2010 and forced severe austerity measures on the country for nearly a decade. According to Eurostat data cited by the ministry, approximately 730,000 Greeks emigrated between 2010 and 2024. More than 470,000 have since returned.

“Our goal is to contribute to the return of our compatriots who left the country, mainly during the economic crisis,” Kerameus said. “We inform them about the opportunities the Greek labor market offers and provide incentives. The final decision, of course, is theirs.”
