The high-risk areas are:

  • Attica
  • Boeotia
  • Evia
  • Argolida
  • Corinthia
  • Fokida
  • Fthiotida
  • Magnesia
  • Achaia

Authorities are urging residents to exercise particular caution, as conditions remain conducive to the outbreak and rapid spread of fires.

Authorities on heightened alert

Greece’s General Secretariat for Civil Protection has notified all relevant government agencies, regional authorities and municipalities to remain on heightened readiness so they can respond immediately to any potential wildfire incidents.

Residents are also advised to avoid outdoor activities that could accidentally cause fires.

These include burning dry grass or branches, operating machinery that can produce sparks, using outdoor grills, smoking bees and discarding lit cigarettes.

Authorities also reminded the public that the burning of agricultural fields is prohibited during the country’s wildfire prevention season.

Anyone who spots a fire is urged to immediately notify the Fire Service by calling 199.
