A 25-year-old man was found dead with a stab wound to the heart in a park in Agios Dimitrios, prompting a homicide investigation by Greek authorities.
The victim has been identified as the son of a senior officer in the Hellenic Police.
The victim’s body was discovered in Asyrmatos Park after a passerby notified authorities, with early indications suggesting he may have been attacked elsewhere and later moved to the location.
According to initial reports, a fight preceded the stabbing.
Authorities are examining all possible scenarios, including the circumstances of the attack and how the victim ended up in the park.
With no cameras in the park, police are relying on video footage from surrounding homes and buildings to reconstruct the victim’s final movements and identify potential suspects.
Local residents describe the park as unsafe during nighttime hours, citing frequent criminal activity, including gang-related clashes and violent incidents.
The surrounding areas has preoccupied authorities several times before. A shooting at a grill shop nearby in January left a father and son injured; police are investigating whether there is any connection between the two cases.
