A cinematic-style tip-off on Saturday night led police in Thessaloniki to solve a brutal murder case… but are still looking for the body, disposed of in a nearby river.

Everything began when a citizen stopped a police patrol in the Malgara area, delivering a chilling account: his two sons had witnessed two men loading a lifeless body into a car.

According to local media, the witness pointed officers to the exact location, in the Kymina area, and provided the vehicle’s license plate number, triggering an immediate police operation.

Officers who rushed to the scene found shell casings, immediately confirming that firearms had been used. The investigation revealed that the vehicle belonged to one of the suspects and his wife. Following coordinated police action, four individuals were brought in for questioning, two of whom were arrested.

According to police sources, the suspects admitted to the crime. The killing is believed to have taken place inside a house in the area, where three Greek men, the 54-year-old victim, a 43-year-old and 42-year old, and two Roma individuals had gathered.

More specifically, the three men had gone to the house to buy drugs. According to witness statements, they were unable to find any, the 42-year-old pulled out a pistol and shot the 54-year-old because he believed they had been deceived.

The perpetrators said that after killing the man, they transported the body and dumped it in the Loudias River after tying bricks to it.

On Sunday, search operations were carried out along the entire length of the river, but to no avail. With the body of the 54-year-old still missing, investigations by the Organized Crime Division are continuing in Kymina and the surrounding villages.
