A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged in Koropi, Greece, involving a 40-year-old woman of Lithuanian origin and her 50-year-old Greek husband. The violent incident took place on Thursday, 23 October, inside the couple’s home, in front of their two minor children.

According to reports, the man initially called the police, claiming he had found his partner bleeding inside the house. However, officers noticed inconsistencies in his statements and considered his behavior suspicious, prompting further investigation.

The assault reportedly occurred around 16:00 on Thursday at the couple’s home on Agios Nektarios Street. The 50-year-old allegedly struck his partner multiple times, causing her to lose consciousness.

Police confirmed that the attack took place in front of the couple’s children. The husband had contacted the emergency services, claiming he found her injured, but his version of events has been contradicted by eyewitness testimony, including that of his own child.

Key Testimony from the 4-Year-Old Child

Police confirmed their suspicions after the couple’s older child, aged four, described the events leading up to the assault in their own words.

The two children, aged 4 years and 3.5 months, have been removed from the home and are now under the care of social workers. The Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office has been informed to ensure their protection and welfare.

Husband Arrested

The 50-year-old is in custody, facing serious charges of domestic violence. Reports indicate he had been previously arrested in 2023 for a similar incident involving the same victim, in front of their child as well.

Emergency services transported the woman to “Red Cross” Hospital, where she remains intubated in the ICU, fighting for her life. Sources describe her injuries as extensive and severe, resulting from repeated punches and kicks to her head and body.
