A teenager has been hospitalized after being stabbed during a violent clash involving minors in the coastal town of Platamon, northern Greece.

The incident took place on Saturday night in the town center, where a fight broke out among a group of young people. According to local media and eyewitnesses, the confrontation quickly escalated, with participants reportedly using wooden planks and chairs taken from nearby businesses.

The injured teenager suffered a knife wound to the leg and was initially taken to a local health center before being transferred to the General Hospital of Katerini, where he remains under medical care.

Father says attack was unprovoked

The teenager’s father said his son was stabbed three times in the thigh in what he described as an unprovoked attack. According to his account, one of the stab wounds narrowly missed a major artery by about one centimeter.

He also claimed that his son and his friends had no involvement in the fight and were simply passing through the area when they became caught up in the violence.

“The violence was indiscriminate,” he said, adding that the attackers struck at random while attempting to flee the scene.

Police investigation ongoing

Police are continuing their investigation to identify everyone involved in the incident. According to the victim’s father, the person responsible for the stabbing has not yet been identified.

In a public appeal, he urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the attacker to contact the authorities or come forward with any relevant evidence.

Despite the severity of his injuries, the teenager is reported to be in stable condition and out of danger. His father said he hopes the case will serve as a reminder of the need to tackle youth violence before similar incidents result in even more serious consequences.
