A Turkish national wanted under a Red Notice was arrested in Thessaloniki by officers from the Northern Greece Organized Crime Division of the Hellenic Police.

The Interpol alert concerned charges including forgery of official documents, the purchase, possession and use of narcotic or psychotropic substances for personal use, cannabis cultivation for personal consumption, intentional bodily harm, threats involving the use of a weapon, theft of secured property, and unlawful entry into a residence.

The man had been convicted for these offences and sentenced to a total prison term of 12 years, 33 months and 30 days.

The 31-year-old Turkish national had previously come to the attention of Greek authorities for offences including drug possession, illegal weapons possession and unlawful entry into the country. He is expected to be brought before the competent prosecutor’s office.
