On Thursday morning, millions of users across multiple countries — including Greece — were unable to access Google services. The disruption impacted the tech giant’s full suite of platforms, from search to email and cloud functions.

The outage coincides with the anniversary of Google’s incorporation, which happened on September 4, 1998.

Reports of failures spread rapidly across social media and outage tracking platforms, highlighting the global scale of the disruption. By 10:41, over 4,000 users in Greece reported issues with Google on downdetector.gr.

As of now, no official explanation has been provided for the cause or duration of the problem.

Google also faced major outages in mid-June, impacting a wide range of its services. During the previous outage, a status update on Google Cloud read: “We are experiencing service issues with multiple GCP products…Our engineering team continues to investigate the issue.”
