President Trump couldn’t have planned a more Gemini birthday party if he tried.
When he turns 80 on Sunday, he intends to celebrate his milestone and America’s 250th with an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on the South Lawn, channeling a penchant for spectacle and crowds that astrologers say is classic for his horoscope: a Gemini sun with Sagittarius moon and Leo rising.
Astrological readings are more art than science and highly subjective. Still, some politicians and executives have been known to make big decisions based on them . There’s no evidence that Trump seeks input from the stars, but that hasn’t stopped astrologers from analyzing the 47th president’s birth chart, most using June 14, 1946, at 10:54 a.m. in Queens, N.Y., for their calculations.
A Gemini sun is known as restless and analytical, a Sagittarius moon brings an optimistic outlook and a rising Leo delivers confidence and charisma. “People are saying, ‘You’re not a king,’ but he loves all the pomp and circumstance, so you see how the Leo really comes out with Mr. Trump,” said Susan Miller, whose Astrology Zone horoscopes are among the country’s most read.
In his celestial makeup astrologers see a big-promising, fast-talking, rule-breaking risk taker. The positions of heavenly bodies when Trump arrived on earth, they say, suggest a man who is zero-filter expressive, requires tons of attention and competes loudly on a public stage.
Trumpworld comprises a constellation of zodiac signs, yielding mixed astrological compatibilities. Vice President JD Vance is a Leo, generally considered a dynamic match for Geminis like Trump. Yet the nuances of their natal charts show the potential for ego-driven friction.
Former Trump adviser Elon Musk , a Cancer, brings an odd-couple energy to Gemini that can sink or soar. (The United States, born July 4, 1776, is also technically a Cancer.) “There is a tendency for one to feel disillusioned and even undermined by the other,” astrologer Raymond Merriman said of their birth charts.
One of the least harmonious matches for Gemini is Scorpio. That happens to be the sign of two Democratic rivals Trump faced in races for the presidency: Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton .
Like Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are Geminis, indicating they share a similar worldview. “Enormous compatibility,” Miller said.
Earth signs typically offer an antidote to the chaos of Gemini’s air sign. For Trump, the most prominent earth sign in his work orbit may be White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, a Taurus. Melania Trump is also a Taurus. “He needs more earth signs around him,” said Miller.
White House spokesman Davis Ingle said in an email: “This story is a joke.”
Astrologers are quick to note that they are not fortunetellers. They can see times when certain conditions arise in a person’s life and can offer guidance, they say, but the final outcome depends on how the individual decides to respond.
Even so, some experts get pretty literal in their readings.
Basing her ideas solely on Trump’s various celestial movements, a social-media astrologer known as Ziggy Astrology contends that the president is a hot sleeper whose food preferences haven’t evolved much since childhood. Also, he wants his underwear and socks to be kept neatly in a closet that someone else has organized, she said, referencing not public information but the perfectionist personality trait that comes with a 22-degree Virgo second house cusp.
Astrology influencer Evan Nathaniel Grim sees Trump as a person who may have been royalty in a past life. That’s partly due to the influence of the star Regulus on Trump’s chart, which Grim said puts the president in a cohort that feels entitled to luxury. “These people often prefer to be wearing gold or have gold trinkets or jewelry in their home prominently displayed,” he said.
Grim called Nov. 17 the most difficult day Trump will experience as an 80-year-old due to a tense standoff triggered by Mars involving Scorpio, Aquarius and Leo. “There is this augmentation of Martian energy, this feeling of needing to go up against an adversary, this feeling of needing to react quickly,” he said.
It’s also exactly two weeks after the midterm elections.
And what about Trump’s actual b-day? This year, it coincides with the start of the Uranus return, an event only some people experience in their lifetime since it takes the planet roughly 84 years to orbit the sun.
“Uranus is the planet of sudden shakeups—it might feel like there’s an energy of instability,” said astrologer and energy healer Kesaine Walker. “It’s almost like the universe is working in a way where the energy is like, ‘Hey, this is what’s here, you only have so much longer to go, what are we doing here?’”
Others call his birthday an auspicious moment. “His good fortune,” Merriman said, “is now.”
