The Storyville Ragtimers will pay tribute to Louis Armstrong with a special concert titled “What a Wonderful World” at the Megaron Garden on Friday, July 10, at 9:00 p.m.

Named after one of Armstrong’s most well-known songs, the performance will take audiences on a musical journey through the life and career of one of the most influential figures in the history of jazz. The program follows his evolution from his early years in the jazz bands of New Orleans to the landmark Hot Five and Hot Seven recordings of the 1920s, and the internationally acclaimed performances that cemented his place as a global music icon.

Armstrong helped shape the jazz genre during its earliest years, transforming it from a local musical tradition into an art form that transcended borders, generations, and languages. With his legendary cornet, unmistakable raspy voice, and signature smile, “Satchmo” demonstrated that music could be both artistic excellence and a source of everyday joy.

The Storyville Ragtimers aim to recreate that spirit by bringing the warmth, rhythm, and energy of classic New Orleans jazz to the Megaron Garden. Rather than treating the music as a historical artifact, the ensemble presents it as a living tradition, performed with respect for its roots and a genuine passion for its timeless sound.
