Commuters in Athens face significant disruption today, Monday, May 4, as key stations on Metro Line 2 will shut down earlier than usual due to infrastructure upgrades.
Stations at Attiki, Larissa Station, Metaxourgeio, Omonia, and Panepistimio will close at 9:40pm—approximately two and a half hours ahead of the regular end of service. The early closure is required for rail replacement works and the installation of a 5G network.
During the works, train services on Line 2 will operate only on two segments: Anthoupoli to Sepolia, and Syntagma to Elliniko.
Importantly, Omonia and Attiki stations will remain open for Line 1 (ISAP) services.
