Police in Kalamata are investigating yet another femicide, after a 39-year-old woman was found dead inside her apartment in the early hours of Monday morning.
According to reports from Tharrosnews.gr, at around 2:00 a.m. neighbors heard shouting coming from inside an apartment in a residential building on Vasilissis Olgas Street and called the police. When officers arrived at the scene, the door was opened by the woman’s 41-year-old husband, who had visible traces of blood on him.
The 39-year-old victim was found dead in the bedroom, with multiple wounds on her body. A forensic examiner was called to the scene. According to the same reports, a knife was found in her hand.
The 41-year-old was arrested and charged with premeditated homicide. The couple’s two minor children were taken to the Pediatric Clinic of Kalamata General Hospital.
The case has been taken over by the Kalamata Criminal Investigation Subdivision, which is conducting the preliminary inquiry and a full investigation into the circumstances of the death.
