Greece will enjoy another day of mostly sunny weather on Monday, June 29, with only a few local clouds expected across the country. During the afternoon, cloud cover will briefly increase over mountainous mainland areas, but no significant weather is expected.
Temperatures will remain well above seasonal averages, especially across western and northern Greece. Highs will reach 31–33°C in Western Macedonia, 35–37°C across the rest of Macedonia and Thrace, with isolated areas possibly reaching 38°C. Thessaly will see highs of 34–36°C, while western mainland regions will climb to 36–37°C, with local temperatures reaching up to 39°C.
Across eastern mainland Greece, temperatures will range from 34–35°C, with isolated highs of 36°C. The Ionian Islands will experience temperatures of 35–36°C, while most Aegean islands will see highs between 31 and 33°C. However, parts of the eastern Aegean islands and southern Crete may locally reach 35–37°C.
Strong northerly winds, known locally as the Meltemi, will continue to affect the Aegean Sea and eastern mainland Greece. Winds will generally blow at 5–6 Beaufort, temporarily strengthening to near-gale force (7 Beaufort) over parts of the southern Aegean. In the Ionian Sea, northwesterly winds of 4–5 Beaufort are expected, while eastern to northeastern winds of similar strength will prevail along coastal areas.
Visitors planning ferry travel across the Aegean should be aware that the stronger winds may lead to rough sea conditions.
Athens
Athens will see mostly sunny skies with only a few passing clouds. Northerly to northeasterly winds will blow at 4–5 Beaufort, reaching 6 Beaufort in eastern parts of Attica. Temperatures will range from 25 to 34–35°C.
Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki will also enjoy mostly sunny conditions, although clouds will briefly increase during the afternoon, mainly over nearby mountainous areas. Winds will remain light and variable at 2–4 Beaufort. Temperatures will range from 25 to 35–36°C.
