A 19-year-old man was arrested in Ano Liosia, a suburb of Athens, after police found that his car had been transformed into what residents described as a “mobile disco,” causing heavy noise disturbance in the neighborhood.

The arrest was carried out in the early hours of Thursday by officers from the Greek police’s OPKE special patrol unit, who were conducting checks in the area when they heard extremely loud music coming from a vehicle.

After locating the source of the noise, officers found a Smart car playing music at a very high volume. During the inspection, they discovered that the 19-year-old driver had installed an extensive sound system inside the vehicle, including 14 speakers and two amplifiers.

The equipment allowed the car to produce sound at very high levels, resembling a professional audio installation rather than a standard vehicle sound system.

Residents reported repeated disturbances

Residents in the area said the vehicle had often been seen driving through the streets of Ano Liosia with music playing at full volume, creating disturbances and affecting public quiet, especially during late-night and early-morning hours.

Police transferred the 19-year-old to the Fyli Police Department, where a case was filed against him for disturbing public peace. The case has now been referred to the judicial authorities.

Images released by the Hellenic Police showed the size of the customized audio system installed in the small vehicle, including multiple speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers.
