A woman died on Saturday morning after being shot at a shooting range in Malevizi, in the Heraklion area of Crete, with initial reports suggesting the incident may have been a suicide.
According to preliminary and unconfirmed information, the woman, who was originally from Thessaloniki, was at the shooting range when the incident occurred. Initial reports suggested the shooting may have been caused by an accidental discharge, but information from emergency responders indicated that she may have turned the weapon on herself.
Shortly before the shooting, the woman reportedly told the shooting range supervisor: “Move further back, you are making me anxious.” According to the same sources, she then turned the weapon toward herself.
The woman suffered a serious neck injury and severe bleeding. When she was picked up by an ambulance, she was reportedly conscious, but her condition was considered extremely critical.

She was transferred urgently to Venizelio Hospital in Heraklion, where she later died.
