‘This is Athens City Festival’ Highlights

Athens Food Fest

The Athens Street Food Festival, the largest of its kind in Greece, which has defined street food culture in our country, kicks off this weekend, from May 10 to May 12, inviting foodies to savor flavors from every corner of the world. Acclaimed radio producers and live DJ sets will infuse the Old OSY Depot with the coolest vibes, while renowned contemporary Greek chefs will be on hand to share their culinary creations. Admission to the event requires a 3-euro ticket.

World of Beer Festival

Similarly, beer lovers can explore everything they’ve ever wanted to know about Greek and international beers at the World of Beer Festival, starting today, May 10, and lasting throughout the weekend at Athens Technopolis in Gazi. Greek microbreweries, a thousand beers from around the globe, DJ sets, comedy shows, and other events promise to make this festival as exciting as it sounds! The event requires a ticket priced at 5 euros.

‘Family & the City’

In celebration of Mother’s Day this Sunday, May 12, an all-day event will take place at Kypseli Municipal Market, featuring activities for children and their parents, including Survivor Games & Trampoline (11am-7pm), Painting and Crafting (12pm-6pm), Face Painting (12pm-6pm), and a Cooking Workshop (12pm-2pm). Admission to the event is free.

Festival of Polyphonic Songs

Fourteen polyphonic groups will perform over three days in three different emblematic spots in the heart of Athens. Starting this Sunday, May 12, at 7pm, three well-known groups from Epirus and a female group performing other Greek-speaking polyphony will fill Filoppapou Hill with songs that as poet Michalis Ganas writes “you’re either shuddering when u hear these songs, or can’t stand them.” The event will continue on subsequent days and will culminate on May 14.

Bon Entendeur Live

The successful duo from France, Bon Entendeur, brings its modern electro sounds to Parko Eleftherias (the park outside Megaron Metro station) this Sunday, May 13, at 9pm. After numerous sold-out concerts across Europe, Bon Entendeur, one of the most sought-after names in the French electro scene, will deliver a unique spring show on the hillside of one of Athens’ busiest streets, offering free admission.

Premiere Screenings at Cine Paris

Cine Paris, nestled in the picturesque streets of Plaka, reopens its doors after a four-year hiatus. This Saturday, May 11, marks its grand reopening, featuring the iconic film “Never on Sunday” directed by Jules Dassin, starring both Dassin and Melina Mercouri. Additionally, on the same day, guests can enjoy a late-night screening of Luca Guadagnino’s latest film, “The Challengers.” With breathtaking views of the Parthenon and a rooftop bar serving refreshing drinks, visitors are in for an unforgettable cinematic experience.
