A mild earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale in magnitude was recorded at 06.47 (04.47 GMT) on Saturday morning in a sea region 113 kilometers southwest of the Gerolimena site of Laconia prefecture, in extreme southern Greece (315 kilometers southwest of Athens), according to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory in the Greek capital.

The previous day, early Friday afternoon, a quake measuring 4.2R was recorded southwest of the isle of Antikythira, with a focal depth of 23.9 kilometers – further east from Saturday morning’s tremor.
The seismic activity was judged as normal by seismologists and manifesting at a sizable distance from the mainland, meaning that it doesn’t warrant concern.
